Hydraulic setting tools
Used to run and set packers
The setting tools is assembled to the packer. As the packer and setting tools are lowered into the wellbore and reaches the desired depth, a ball will drop from the top into the string and pressure is applied to the string. Hydraulic pressure acts on the internal part of the setting tools, creating the push/pull action to the piston of the packer which is necessary to set the packer. When the packer is fully set, pressure is increased to the value of shear pins of the setting tools catcher sub. After shearing the pins, the pressure will release and the Right-hand rotation disengages the setting tool from the packer. |
